India Health Action Trust (IHAT) launched the Gender Champions Initiative as a key mechanism to operationalise the IHAT Gender Equality Strategy (2024-2029). Aligned with Strategy Objective 2 – strengthening staff understanding and application of gender-transformative approaches – the initiative builds internal leadership and embeds gender responsiveness across programmes and operations.

Nearly 30 Gender Champions from technical, managerial, and operational teams were nominated and trained to serve as internal advocates, facilitators, and resource persons. They supported their units and teams in integrating gender-responsive components into programme design, implementation, and policy engagement, while closely collaborating with the IHAT Gender experts on content development, peer learning, and organisation-wide gender mainstreaming efforts.
