About IHAT:

India Health Action Trust was instituted in 2003 as a Charitable Trust with a vision to meaningfully impact the lives of vulnerable and marginalised people by addressing health and social inequities. The Trust is working towards reducing inequities by developing comprehensive and sustainable programmes to improve population health. Since its inception, IHAT has been working closely with the Government of India and state governments, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Delhi and Maharashtra to achieve public health goals. Our work is focused in areas of prevention and control of HIV and Tuberculosis, in achieving significant improvements in Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health, improved Nutrition among mothers and children, and strengthening health systems. We use program science to optimise and scale public health programs while partnering with the governments and communities.

Job Summary :

India Health Action Trust (IHAT) is providing Technical support to the UP State TB programme in the area of Diagnostic Network Optimization, Integration of TB in Primary Health Care, Private Sector Engagement and also in the Multisector Engagement. IHAT has received a  research grant from Azim Premji Foundation (APF) to conduct a qualitative study titled “The Intersection of Tuberculosis, Menstrual Health, and Mental Well-being Among Adolescent Girls in Selected District of Uttar Pradesh””. To support the implementation of this study, IHAT is recruiting two Field Investigators who will be based in in the study district. These Field Investigators  will be the bridge between the study and the respondents.

Key Responsibilities:

To conduct high-quality qualitative data collection through interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), observations, and documentation while ensuring ethical engagement with adolescent participants and maintaining data quality standards. The Field Investigator will support implementation of field activities under the direct supervision of the Research Associate and will be primarily responsible for participant recruitment, qualitative data collection, documentation, and field-level coordination. 

  1. Recruitment of study participants in collaboration with local health authorities, schools, community organizations, and project staff.
  2. Schedule interviews and focus group discussions.
  3. Conduct In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) with adolescent girls affected by TB.
  4. Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with adolescent girls, caregivers, and community members. Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with healthcare providers, teachers, counselors, and program staff.
  5. Ensure completeness and accuracy of collected information.
  6. Submit audio recordings, transcripts, field notes, and daily reports in a timely manner.
  7. Participate in regular debriefing sessions with supervisors.
  8. Follow study protocols and standard operating procedures.
  9. Maintain participant confidentiality and privacy.
  10. Immediately report any ethical concerns or participant distress to supervisors.
  11. Ensure respectful and non-judgmental interactions with participants.
  12. Prepare daily and weekly field reports.
  13. Support transcription and translation of interviews where required.
  14. Assist with verification and validation of collected data.
  15. Participate in team meetings and training session
  16. Build rapport with participants and facilitate discussions on sensitive topics.
  17. Ensure interviews are conducted in a safe, confidential, and culturally appropriate manner.
  18. Obtain informed consent and assent before data collection.
  19. Record interviews and maintain detailed field notes.
Work Experience:
  1. Minimum 2–3 years of experience in field-based research or community health programs.
  2. Experience conducting interviews and facilitating group discussions.
  3. Fluency in local language(s) and working knowledge of English.
  4. Willingness to travel extensively within study areas.
Education:

Graduate degree in Social Work, Public Health, Anthropology, Sociology, or related fields.
