About IHAT:

India Health Action Trust was instituted in 2003 as a Charitable Trust with a vision to meaningfully impact the lives of vulnerable and marginalised people by addressing health and social inequities. The Trust is working towards reducing inequities by developing comprehensive and sustainable programmes to improve population health. Since its inception, IHAT has working closely with the Government of India and state governments, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Bihar to achieve public health goals. Our work is focused in areas of prevention and control of HIV and Tuberculosis, in achieving significant improvements in Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health, improved Nutrition among mothers and children, and strengthening health systems. We use program science to optimise and scale public health programs while partnering with the governments and communities.

About Program:

The Uttar Pradesh Technical Support Unit (UPTSU) provides integrated Technical Assistance (TA) to the government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP), which focuses on accelerating progress in reproductive, maternal, new-born and child health, and nutrition (RMNCHN). UPTSU works closely with the GoUP at the state, district and local levels to optimize RMNCHN programs and services. The technical assistance provided by UPTSU is integrated within the GoUP’s health system response for scale-up and sustainability. UPTSU focuses on interventions to improve outcomes in Family Planning, Maternal and New-born Health, and Nutrition, along with Routine Immunization, Digital Health, and other initiatives

Job Summary :

The Government of India has set up the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM)to address urban health challenges and enhance access to and coverage of comprehensive primary health services. To augment and accelerate the Government initiative, IHAT intends to develop an urban health initiative (UHI) to be implemented in select cities/urban pockets in Uttar Pradesh (UP).

Urban Health Coordinator-Urban Health Initiative a city-level cadre who works closely with Urban PHC staff of the Department of Health and Family Welfare and National Urban Health Mission to strengthen and improve overall outputs and outcomes in his/her respective allocated areas, S/he will mentor and provide capacity building on RMNCH, NCD, and ID interventions including digital recording and tracking of clients and other responsibilities as deemed to fit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • S/he will work and closely coordinate with the key personnel at Urban Primary Health Care (UPHC) and Urban AAM in the allocated city to support implementing Urban Health Initiatives.
  • S/he will support establishing and strengthening existing platforms like cluster meetings, UAAM meetings, and Home visits by providing handholding support to Urban ASHAs.
  • S/he will provide support in conducting a comprehensive mapping of slum areas, performing slum profiling, and developing strategies to reach out to underserved urban poor populations with services.
  • S/he will visit CiUHSNDs and provide supportive supervision and mentoring support to ensure the effective coverage and quality of RMNCH+N, including RI, MIYCN, NCD and ID service delivery by the FLWs (ASHA, ANM, AWW).
  • S/he will support the UPHC and UAAM on the indenting and availability of drugs through DVDMS and its supply chain mechanisms.
  • S/he will support the FLWs and supervisors in rolling out and utilizing the digital applications while ensuring the quality of data.
  • S/he will escalate relevant gaps with MOIC and facilitate the discussions to take appropriate solution to fill the gaps.
  • S/he will closely work with city level government counterparts to facilitate timely indent and monitor picking up of drugs from the warehouse.
  • S/he will establish and strengthen community to facility to community referral networks in the allocated geography.
  • S/he will support CCPM and CDPO in organizing monthly review meeting with supervisors and shall be part of listed meetings and facilitate evidence-based discussions and decision making.
  • S/he will closely monitor and support the following priority interventions related to Urban poor on Low birth weights, HRP tracking, SAM children, CiUHSND, and reducing home deliveries.
  • S/he will be responsible to compile and share monthly activity and progress reports along with case studies and success stories.
  • S/he will support transition and sustainability of successful interventions of IHAT-UPTSU to GoUP with support of State/District teams
  • S/he will be required to stay within the allocated geography and travel extensively within the geography allocated
  • Any other task assigned by organization.
Work Experience:
  • At least one year of experience in any of the RMNCHA and nutrition interventions.
Education:

Required

  • Candidate must be graduate in any field

Preferred

  • Post graduate degree in social work/social sciences will be preferred
  • Knowledge in use of digital applications will be preferred
  • Female candidates will be preferred
Key Competencies:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Good analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, data tools, and digital platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and travel within the assigned city.
