The role holder will serve as a technical authority and strategic driver of cutting-edge AI and data science innovations across public health systems and academic medical centres. Operating at the intersection of advanced artificial intelligence, public health policy, and clinical informatics, the role will involve leading the design, development, and governance of high-impact AI architectures, including Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Computer Vision, and predictive systems, to enable evidence-based decision-making and transform healthcare delivery across Uttar Pradesh.
Depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience, the role may also entail providing overall technical and delivery leadership for AI and health informatics initiatives, establishing priorities and technical direction, ensuring alignment with relevant programmes and public health objectives, and overseeing the quality, responsible deployment, and outcomes of the overall workstream.
Key Responsibilities:
- AI-Enabled Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS): Focus on developing AI-enabled clinical decision support systems by analysing structured, semi-structured, and unstructured healthcare data to support evidence-based clinical decision-making.
- AI Architecture & Technical Leadership: Contribute to the design and delivery of state-of-the-art AI/ML and health informatics solutions for public health services, including monitoring, analytics, dashboard development, and institutional research.
- Generative AI, ML & LLM Implementation: Conceptualise, design, and deploy Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Generative AI, statistical modelling, and advanced analytics solutions for healthcare use cases.
- Advanced Deep Learning & Computer Vision: Oversee the development, training, and production deployment of deep learning models for applications such as biomedical imaging, automated video analysis, and early-warning and prognostic analytics.
- Strategic Vendor & Lifecycle Governance: Direct the end-to-end technical management of external vendor deliverables, enforce architectural standards, manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and lead enterprise-scale solution rollouts.
- Ethical AI, Compliance & Data Governance: Support AI governance and Responsible AI practices, including use-case assessment, risk evaluation, feasibility assessment, privacy considerations, and documentation. Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and best practices, including the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, HIPAA, GDPR, and national digital health standards, is desirable.
- Knowledge Dissemination & Mentorship: Disseminate research findings through high-impact reports, academic publications, and executive briefings. Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to building institutional analytics capacity.
- Additional Team Lead Criteria: Lead the workstream end-to-end by translating programme requirements into a delivery roadmap, prioritizing use cases, assigning and reviewing work, tracking milestones and risks, and ensuring technical quality and timely implementation. Coordinate cross-functional team members and vendors, resolve delivery challenges, mentor colleagues, and present progress updates, risks, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
