India Health Action Trust (IHAT) works towards reducing inequities by developing comprehensive and sustainable programs to improve population health. IHAT’s work is focused in areas of prevention and control of HIV and Tuberculosis, in achieving significant improvements in Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health, improved Nutrition among mothers and children, and strengthening health systems.

IHAT has set up multiple Technical Support Units (TSU) and an Innovation Hub to provide techno-managerial assistance and coordinate with the Governments, Non-Government Agencies, Academic Institutions and Communities.

Travel Requirements:

This position requires extensive travel to project geographies

Job Summary :

Specialist, systems will be responsible for landscaping the health systems of various new geographies/states where IHAT wants to develop a point of view on health systems strengthening (HSS). The specialist will also be responsible for working closely with national and state-level partners of IHAT such as NHSRC, ADB amongst others.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing a point of view on Health systems strengthening (HSS) support which IHAT can provide to state governments on at least the following components of HSS:
    • Human Resource for Health (HRH)
    • Supply chain/logistics processes
    • Digital Health
    • Government data systems
    • PPP/Contract Management
    • Budgeting/planning processes
    • Payments/Financing processes
    • Private sector strategy
  • Partner liaising and coordination – Lead IHAT’s coordination and provide support to HSS teams at various national and state level agencies, partners, and funders
    • Primary point person for coordination and liaising with partners for national level and state projects RMNCH, Infectious diseases, and national programs
    • Understand the requirements of key health partners within the scope of work of IHAT with respect to HSS
    • Assess the requirements of IHAT leadership required for smooth implementation of new projects
  • Support IHAT in creating a knowledge base for all HSS work and appropriate knowledge management of HSS knowledge products

Work Experience:
  • At least 3 years of experience in Public Health, working directly or indirectly with government, or health partners, or funders
  • Candidates with experience of at least 1 year of working with government health systems will be preferred
Education:
  • MBA/MPP/MPA/MPH/MSW or a similar degree from a Tier 1 institute
Key Competencies:
  • Knowledge of government systems
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, analyze, innovate, plan and execute ideas
  • Strong background and work experience in Financial Management and Administration
  • Knowledge of government contract management
  • Deep understanding of govt./non-govt. recruitment processes
  • Demonstrates efficient decision making and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member
  • Fluency in English and knowledge of Hindi essential
