About IHAT:

India Health Action Trust was instituted in 2003 as a Charitable Trust with a vision to meaningfully impact the lives of vulnerable and marginalised people by addressing health and social inequities. The Trust is working towards reducing inequities by developing comprehensive and sustainable programmes to improve population health. Since its inception, IHAT has working closely with the Government of India and state governments, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Bihar to achieve public health goals. Our work is focused in areas of prevention and control of HIV and Tuberculosis, in achieving significant improvements in Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health, improved Nutrition among mothers and children, and strengthening health systems. We use program science to optimise and scale public health programs while partnering with the governments and communities.

About Program:

The Uttar Pradesh Technical Support Unit (UPTSU) provides integrated Technical Assistance (TA) to the government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP), which focuses on accelerating progress in reproductive, maternal, new-born and child health, and nutrition (RMNCHN). UPTSU works closely with the GoUP at the state, district and local levels to optimize RMNCHN programs and services. The technical assistance provided by UPTSU is integrated within the GoUP’s health system response for scale-up and sustainability. UPTSU focuses on interventions to improve outcomes in Family Planning, Maternal and New-born Health, and Nutrition, along with Routine Immunization, Digital Health, and other initiatives.

Job Summary :

The Specialist/(Sr) Associate – Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) will be responsible for supporting the community and facility-based studies for various projects of IHAT-UPTSU. The role involves assisting in the design and execution of research studies, managing data collection processes, conducting data analysis, and developing reports and presentations. Ensuring the smooth implementation of the study and quality data will be one of the prime responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring good analytical skills and a solid foundation in research methodologies.

  • Assist in the design and implementation of research studies, surveys, and evaluations.
  • Contribute to the development of data collection tools (e.g., questionnaires, interview guides), manuals and protocols.
  • Coordinate fieldwork logistics and support supervision of data collection teams.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical standards and data quality protocols during research activities.
  • Conduct regular field visits to ensure the data quality.
  • Clean, manage, and analyze quantitative datasets using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R, or Python).
  • Prepare data visualizations, dashboards, and analytical reports to communicate findings effectively.
  • Support training sessions during training.
  • Extensive field work for quality assurance.
  • Any other work given by the line manager or organization from time to time.
Work Experience:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Monitoring & Evaluation, research, or data analysis role within public health, development, or related sectors.
Education:
  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Demography/ Population Studies/ Statistics / Economics/ Mathematics/ Geography/ Public Health and other relevant fields from an institute of repute.
Key Competencies:
  • Proficiency in data analysis and data visualisation software (SPSS, STATA, R, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience with conducting large-scale community-facility-based research.
  • Experience with impact evaluations or experimental/quasi-experimental research designs.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Understanding of ethical research practices and data protection standards.
  • Proven teamwork skills with an ability to work independently under pressure and at short notice.
  • Proficiency in Hindi Language, including reading, writing, and speaking.
