About IHAT:

India Health Action Trust (IHAT) aims at improving public health initiatives by supporting programs nationally and globally through providing comprehensive technical assistance in program planning, management and monitoring. Pursuant to the Memorandum of Cooperation between the GoUP and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, IHAT set up a Technical Support Unit (TSU) in 2013 to provide techno-managerial support to the Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP) to improve utilization, coverage and quality of key reproductive, maternal, new-born, child health and nutrition (RMNCHN) interventions and services in the state. The TSU has been set up from the funding support of Bill & Melinda Gate Foundation (BMGF) through the University of Manitoba (UOM), Canada.

About Program:

The Uttar Pradesh Technical Support Unit (UPTSU) provides integrated Technical Assistance (TA) to the government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP), which focuses on accelerating progress in reproductive, maternal, new-born and child health, and nutrition (RMNCHN). UPTSU works closely with the GoUP at the state, district and local levels to optimize RMNCHN programs and services. The technical assistance provided by UPTSU is integrated within the GoUP’s health system response for scale-up and sustainability. UPTSU focuses on interventions to improve outcomes in Family Planning, Maternal and New-born Health, and Nutrition, along with Routine Immunization, Digital Health, and other initiatives.

Job Summary :

Specialist-Routine Immunization shall support the State RI Cell to strengthen immunization performance in the State. The role focuses on improving data-driven decision-making, governance, and accountability to achieve the optimal immunization coverage in the state.

Key Responsibilities:
  • S/he shall support the development and institutionalization of a robust review mechanism for Routine Immunization (RI) at the state level.
  • S/he shall build capacities of the RI cell to use existing data to inform policy development and decision-making processes.
  • S/he will shall build capacities of the RI cell to develop reports using existing data.
  • S/he will provide training and capacity-building support to colleagues and stakeholders on data analysis, evidence-based decision-making, and policy development.
  • S/he will support the implementation of pilot interventions to reduce zero dose and under-immunized children
  • S/he will prepare evidence-based project implementation plan in coordination with the line manager and provide strategic guidance smooth implementation of the work plans;
  • S/he will analyze the program data; explore the gaps/ opportunities, and reconnoitre innovative approaches to address the gaps;

 

Work Experience:
  • Essential experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience at the division, district and/or state level in working on RI or related program.
  • Preferred experience: Understanding of the government health system, working closely with State RI Cell, especially in Uttar Pradesh
Education:
  • Required Qualification: Master’s degree in public health or healthcare administration or a related field is required.
  • Preferred Qualification: PhD in public health or a related field.
Key Competencies:
  • In-depth understanding of RMNCH concepts and the Indian Public Healthcare system
  • Strong programmatic, coordination and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with government officials and other stakeholders
  • Analytical skills and proficiency in data interpretation
  • Experience in capacity building and providing technical assistance
  • Proficiency in using MS Office and various health program-related IT applications
