Job Summary :
The Nurse Mentor will be critical in driving improvement in quality processes in the block with special focus on Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and Ayushman Aarogya Mandir (AAM). The Nurse Mentor is expected to work at the health facilities at district/block/ sub-block level to interact with the health facility staff, facilitate assessment exercises and action planning, identify mentoring needs and provide onsite mentoring to facility and outreach staff providing Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH), Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and infectious disease services like tuberculosis (TB). The position requires the candidate to travel within the block to facilitate mentoring during outreach. However, candidate may need to travel to other blocks or districts for programme related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct facility assessments to identify gaps in provision of MNCH, TB and NCD services; develop micro-plans to plug gaps and improve availability and quality of services at AAM/PHC
- Assess the service delivery provision, infrastructure, HR, availability of drugs and diagnostics
- Support in data analysis and create facility-specific quality improvement plans.
- Facilitate data driven Quality Improvement (QI) meetings at AAM in the block to catalyze gap fulfillment in service delivery at AAM/PHC.
- Conduct skills/training needs assessment of Nurses/ANMs ((Delivery points & outreach) and Community Health Officers (CHOs); develop mentoring plans to improve skills and quality of services in the facility
- Conduct regular on‑site mentoring visits to AAMs and strengthen skills of CHOs with special focus on NCD screening and management, MNCH and TB services
- Provide mentoring sessions for ANMs and CHOs leveraging mini skills lab at block level on MNCH and NCDs screening/service provision, measured by Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)
- Plan & conduct regular mentoring sessions and skill assessments based on the need / required using facility indicator or staff performance
- Mentor Staff Nurses and ANMs to improve knowledge, skills and practices resulting in improved quality of MNCH, NCDs and infectious diseases with focus on TB services
- Work with Community Health Champions, Supervisors, CHOs to activate and strengthen the Village Health Sanitation & Nutrition days and initiate the NCD services
- Orient the Block Coordinator, Supervisors and Community Health Champions on basic public health concepts with respect to MNCH, NCDs and TB and facility level QI processes.
- Regular meeting with CBMO / BMO for updates and participating in block level ANM / CHO meetings and sector meeting.
- Support the facility and outreach staff in improving quality of data for services provided

Work Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years of proven experience in MNCH / NBD / TB /Comprehensive Primary Health Care.
- Experience working clinical (preferably in obstetric and neonatal nursing care)
- Women candidates from tribal community are highly encouraged to apply.
Education:
- Essential education qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Technical Competencies:
- Technical knowledge and experience in public health; experience in maternal, newborn and child health programs, NCDs and CPHC would be strong asset
- Experience working with government/development agency/non-profit/NGO in facility-based and community based intervention
- Good understanding of quality improvement process
- Demonstrated analytics skills
- Good understanding of Indian health care system with knowledge of Madhya Pradesh context at the district and community level.
- Good computer skills (MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Knowledge of local language.
