About IHAT:

India Health Action Trust was instituted in 2003 as a Charitable Trust with a vision to meaningfully impact the lives of vulnerable and marginalised people by addressing health and social inequities. The Trust is working towards reducing inequities by developing comprehensive and sustainable programmes to improve population health. Since its inception, IHAT has working closely with the Government of India and state governments, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Bihar to achieve public health goals. Our work is focused in areas of prevention and control of HIV and Tuberculosis, in achieving significant improvements in Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health, improved Nutrition among mothers and children, and strengthening health systems. We use program science to optimise and scale public health programs while partnering with the governments and communities.

About Program:

The Uttar Pradesh Technical Support Unit (UPTSU) provides integrated Technical Assistance (TA) to the government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP), which focuses on accelerating progress in reproductive, maternal, new-born and child health, and nutrition (RMNCHN). UPTSU works closely with the GoUP at the state, district and local levels to optimize RMNCHN programs and services. The technical assistance provided by UPTSU is integrated within the GoUP’s health system response for scale-up and sustainability. UPTSU focuses on interventions to improve outcomes in Family Planning, Maternal and New-born Health, and Nutrition, along with Routine Immunization, Digital Health, and other initiatives.

Job Summary :

Block Coordinator BoC is a block level cadre who works closely with block level staff of Department of Health and Family Welfare and Department of Child Development to strengthen and improve family planning, maternal health, new born health, and nutrition outputs and outcomes in his/her respective block/allocated geography. S/he will mentor and provide capacity building support to ASHA, AWW and their supervisory structure on RMNCH and nutrition intervention, including digital recording and tracking of clients, support implementation research and other responsibilities as deemed fit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • S/he will work and closely coordinate with the key personnel of Department of Health and Family Welfare (DHFW) and Department of Child Development (DoCD) in the allocated block to support implementation of health and nutrition programs of GoUP.
  • S/he will support in strengthening existing platforms like cluster meeting, SC meeting, Sankul meetings, and sector meetings and Home visits by providing handholding support to ASHA Sangini and Mukya Sevika, on RMNCH+N thematic areas.
  • S/he will visit CiVHSNDs and to provide supportive supervision and mentoring support to ensure the effective coverage and quality of RMNCH+N including RI and MIYCN service delivery by the FLWs (ASHA, ANM, AWW)
  • S/he will support the FLWs and supervisors in rolling out and utilization of the digital applications while ensuring the quality of data.
  • S/he will escalate relevant gaps during block level review meetings with MOIC/ CDPO/ BCPM and facilitate the discussions to take appropriate solution to fill the gaps.
  • She will provide mentoring and handholding support to ASHA Sangini, Mukya Sevika, Poshan sakhis on RMNCH+N interventions.
  • S/he will mentor the FLWs on mobilization for family planning and FPLMIS through cluster meeting, SC meeting, Sankul meetings, and sector meetings in service delivery platforms like CiVHSNDs and home visits.
  • S/he will closely work with block level government counterparts to facilitate timely indent and monitor picking up of drugs from the warehouse.
  • S/he will establish and strengthen community to facility to community referral networks in the allocated geography.
  • S/he will support BCPM and CDPO in organizing monthly review meeting with supervisors and shall be part of listed meetings and facilitate evidence-based discussions and decision making.
  • S/he will closely monitor and support the following priority interventions related to Low birth weights, HRP tracking, SAM children, Integrated CiVHSND and reducing home deliveries.
  • S/he will be responsible to compile and share monthly activity and progress reports along with case studies and success stories.
  • S/he will support transition and sustainability of successful interventions of IHAT-UPTSU to GoUP with support of State/District teams
  • S/he will be required to stay within the allocated geography and travel extensively within the geography allocated.
  • Any other task assigned by organization.
Work Experience:
  • At least one-year experience in any of the RMNCHA and nutrition intervention
  • Experience in rolloing out digital application including ekavach
Education:

Required

  • Candidates must be graduate in any field

Preferred

  • Post graduate degree in social work/social sciences will be preferred
  • Knowledge in use of digital applications will be preferred
  • Female candidates will be preferred
