About IHAT:

India Health Action Trust was instituted in 2003 as a Charitable Trust with a vision to meaningfully impact the lives of vulnerable and marginalised people by addressing health and social inequities. The Trust is working towards reducing inequities by developing comprehensive and sustainable programmes to improve population health. Since its inception, IHAT has working closely with the Government of India and state governments, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Bihar to achieve public health goals. Our work is focused in areas of prevention and control of HIV and Tuberculosis, in achieving significant improvements in Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health, improved Nutrition among mothers and children, and strengthening health systems. We use program science to optimise and scale public health programs while partnering with the governments and communities.

About Program:

The Uttar Pradesh Technical Support Unit (UPTSU) provides integrated Technical Assistance (TA) to the government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP), which focuses on accelerating progress in reproductive, maternal, new-born and child health, and nutrition (RMNCHN). UPTSU works closely with the GoUP at the state, district and local levels to optimize RMNCHN programs and services. The technical assistance provided by UPTSU is integrated within the GoUP’s health system response for scale-up and sustainability. UPTSU focuses on interventions to improve outcomes in Family Planning, Maternal and New-born Health, and Nutrition, along with Routine Immunization, Digital Health, and other initiatives.

Job Summary :

The Associate/Senior Associate-Human Resource will be responsible for managing end-to-end HR operations, ensuring smooth employee lifecycle management, compliance adherence, and providing proactive support to employees and managers. The role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple responsibilities while maintaining employee satisfaction and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment & Onboarding

  1. Manage end-to-end recruitment for technical, programmatic, and field positions in coordination with program teams.
  2. Maintain updated HR trackers, organizational structure, and a pool of candidates for urgent/short-term requirements.
  • Oversee pre-joining documentation, reference checks, orientation sessions, and maintenance of staff personal files.

Probation, Contracts & HR Administration

  1. Track probation reviews, confirmations, and contract renewals.
  2. Maintain donor/project-specific contracts, consultancy agreements, and related records.
  • Monitor attendance, leave records in line with HR policy.
  1. Support HR administration of employee benefits, including Group Mediclaim Insurance, leave management, and other welfare schemes, ensuring timely processing and employee support.

Employee Lifecycle & Separation

  1. Manage staff exits including clearance, handover, exit interviews, and settlements.
  2. Ensure HR documentation meets statutory compliance standards.
  • Support HR audits and implement corrective measures as required.

Internship & Fellowship Management

  1. Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and engagement of interns and fellows.
  2. Facilitate structured learning experiences and document outcomes.

Employee Engagement

  1. Design and implement employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  2. Coordinate activities, feedback mechanisms, and recognition programs to enhance staff morale.
Work Experience:
  • Overall, 2 – 5 years of relevant experience in Human resource domain.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience in performing HR functions.
  • Experience in handling multi-location staff will be an added advantage.
Education:
  • Required Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in HR/Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Preferred Qualification: Masters’ degree in HR
Key Competencies:
  1. Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  2. Excellent communication, empathy, and people-management skills.
  3. Ability to prepare documents and coordinate activities independently.
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships with employees at all levels.
  5. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in handling HR records and data.
  6. Prior experience in using HRMIS will be an added advantage.
