About IHAT:

India Health Action Trust (IHAT) aims at improving public health initiatives by supporting programs nationally and globally through providing comprehensive technical assistance in program planning, management and monitoring. IHAT has set up a Technical Support Unit (TSU) for the Government of Uttar Pradesh to provide techno-managerial assistance to improve the coverage of key reproductive, maternal, new-born, child health and nutrition (RMNCHA+) interventions and services in the state from the funding support of Bill & Melinda Gate Foundation (BMGF) through University of Manitoba (UOM), Canada.

The Uttar Pradesh Technical Support Unit (UPTSU) was formed in 2013 to provide techno-managerial support to the Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP) pursuant to the Memorandum of Cooperation between the GoUP and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The University of Manitoba (UoM) leads the program and has partnered with IHAT to support the government in strengthening its Reproductive, Maternal, New-born and Child Health (RMNCH) and Nutrition programs.

Job Summary :

To provide support and guidance to the State specialists, District Senior Specialists and Nurse mentors for smooth implementation of MNCH program at the district and block level facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Key Deliverables expected from the Job Role:

  • Smooth transitioning of NM program to GoUP by providing technical support for the same.
  • Improvement in the OSCE score of the SNs of the LR and OT in the key BEmOC skills.
  • Improvement in the quality of service provision of the LR including RMC
  • Improvement in the key service indicators of the LR of the DWH/DCH/CHCs as evident from the facility score card.

Key inputs expected from the Job Role :

  • Good liaison with the SNO Nursing cell, GM MH, CH and Quality along with Director Nursing and Director MCH.
  • Track mapping of all SNs of the LR and OT, implementation of uniform mentoring plan and timely OSCE as per the MSL guidelines by the NMs through the State specialists.
  • Track and support LaQshya certification in the selected facilities.
  • Support the field teams by trouble shooting the long pending/difficult to resolve issues in coordination with the govt counter-parts at the State level.
  • Organize need based and refresher trainings for the field teams to keep them updated on the newer guidelines.
  • Develop modules/checklists/job reports/progress reports and document the success stories and innovations in the nurse mentoring program.
  • Do periodic review of facility data to prioritize the level and degree of intervention required and take corrective actions.


  • Any other work given by the line manager or organization from time to time;
  • Additional tasks as may be added to the Job Description  from time to time for the job role.
Work Experience:

Essential Experience : Working in public health in India for 7-10 years

Preferred Experience: Those who have relevant experience in RMNCHA domain will be given preference


Required Qualification : MBBS with MD/DNB/ Diploma/ MPH

Preferred Qualification: MD/DNB/Diploma in Community medicine/ObG/Paediatrics will be given preference
